POST REPORT
DHARAN, MARCH 26
Gone are the days for locals of Dharan Municipality when they spent hours to fetch water from the nearby sources or stood in long queues for water.
The problem of clean drinking water here is gradually being resolved as Dharan Municipality has adopted community drinking water policy since the last four years.
Locals at Yalambar Hanchha Chowk, who were badly hit by drinking water scarcity during every dry season, have now got rid of the water crisis days after construction of the Bishnupaduka community water project. The project was jointly constructed by Dharan Municipality and the locals. Seven such community water projects are operational at the present at ward numbers 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17 in Dharan.
The municipality source said that Nepal Water Supply Corporation is supplying water to about 125,000 people out of a total of 200,000 residents in the municipality.
"We do not have a drinking water problem now after
the construction of the project," said Bhairab Angla, a local of Sumnima Chowk of Dharan-13.
